Treat GEO as work around discovery

GEO is commonly used for efforts to improve a brand's presence in AI-generated answers. That may involve your own product information, the sources discussing your business, and observations of answers to relevant questions.

We would keep the work concrete. "Improve AI authority" is a vague assignment; "make the product's audience and supported integrations unambiguous" is something a team can complete.

Begin with useful information

Describe what the product does, who it serves, pricing context, limitations, and documentation accurately. Make important pages accessible and link them through the site.

Then inspect the sources behind a few buyer questions. If a relevant comparison omits your product, assess whether you can contribute something useful to its readers.

A brand mention names the business. A citation links to a source. A recommendation suggests a product as a choice. A referral visit is another event again. Do not treat those as interchangeable proof of growth.

An example: an answer might mention your brand while citing someone else's comparison. That does not mean your own product page was cited or that a visitor arrived at your website.

Avoid a separate set of invented rules

Google says its existing search best practices remain relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode. That guidance does not establish the behavior of every other AI service, but it does rule out claiming Google requires special AI markup.

Use original, well-supported answers and clear product facts. Keep observations tied to the question, platform, and date, and choose the next action based on what you can verify.
