Check the page before the prompt

We would start with one important product page, not a sitewide rewrite. Open it without signing in. Can a visitor understand what you sell, who it serves, and what it costs? Check the rendered text, canonical URL, HTTP status, and any noindex or snippet restrictions.

For Google AI Overviews, a page needs to be indexed and eligible for a search snippet. Check URL Inspection in Search Console. An indexed page still has no entitlement to appear in a particular answer.

Separate three different problems

What you observeWhat to investigate
Your page is missing from Google's indexCrawl access, indexing directives, canonical selection, useful content
Your page is indexed but your brand is absentRelevance to the question and the sources selected for that answer
Your brand appears but details are wrongOutdated pricing, ambiguous product descriptions, conflicting sources

Repeat a small set of questions with the same buying constraints and record the date. One answer cannot establish a sitewide visibility problem.

An example of a useful check

Suppose your product is invoicing software for UK freelancers. "Best business software" is too broad to diagnose anything. Ask about invoicing for that audience, inspect the cited comparisons, and check whether they cover your actual tax features and price range.

If the sources cover enterprise accounting suites, adjust the question. If they cover close alternatives but omit you, inspect those articles for a legitimate inclusion opportunity. Changing your homepage headline will not automatically change an independently written comparison.

Prioritize the smallest fix supported by what you found: unblock an important page, clarify a product fact, or approach one relevant article.
